Mr. Panos Prodromides is a graduate of The English School in Nicosia (1991). He subsequently studied at the University of Manchester and obtained a degree in Economic and Social Studies with first class honours. He completed his postgraduate studies at the London School of Economics and Political Science in MSc in Management with distinction.
He began his career at the audit firm Arthur Andersen in London (1997 - 2001) and then worked at Lefkoniko Stock Brokers Ltd as a Research Manager on derivative options listed on the London and German stock exchanges. Returning to Cyprus, he worked at Deloitte Limited (2003-2009) as a Senior Manager in the area of statutory audits and related assurance services for a clientele of over 200 entities. He was later appointed as the Head of the Audit department and responsible for external audits at Nexia Poyiadjis (2009-2011), and he subsequently served as a Managing Partner at A. Panayiotou & P. Prodromides Ltd (2011-2015) working in the Audit department.
In October 2015, he was appointed as an Audit Quality Reviewer, conducting quality inspections on behalf of the CyPAOB, being responsible for the inspection of Firm-wide procedures in audit firms that are providing statutory audits of financial statements of public interest entities (PIEs) as well as for inspections of PIEs' audit files. In addition, he was responsible for the inspection of the recognized Professional body of auditors in Cyprus in relation to the delegated tasks assigned to it by the CyPAOB according to the Delegation Agreement, as well as the preparation of reports of findings and presentation of them to the Board of Directors.
Mr. Panos Prodromides was appointed as the Director General of CyPAOB on 1 December 2023 by a decision of the Board of Directors of CyPAOB, which was approved by the Council of Ministers
He is also a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Cyprus and an Associate member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW). He represents the CyPAOB on various committees of the Committee of European Auditing Oversight Bodies (CEAOB) such as CEAOB Inspections Sub-Group Organizing Committee, International Auditing Standards Sub-Group, Enforcement Sub-Group and is also a member of the KPMG, EY, and Deloitte Colleges. Furthermore, he is an active member of the Emerging Working Group of the International Forum of Independent Audit Regulators (IFIAR).
On 18 June 2024, Mr. Panos Prodromides was elected as the new Chair of the Committee of European Auditing Oversight Bodies (CEAOB) for a four-year term starting on 12 July 2024.
